POETRY- is more economical than prose fiction in the use of words, and relies heavily imagery, figurative language (colorful writing) and sound. 3 . DRAMA-it is a literature designed to be performed by actors. 4. NON-FICTION PROSE- truth in reporting and logic in reasoning. Any literary work that is based mainly on fact, even though it may contain fictional elements

1) Prose fiction or narrative fiction includes novels, short stories, myths, parables, romances and epics. Ex. novels and short stories. Novels tend to be much longer than short stories. Fiction originally meant anything made up, crafted or shaped. It is an imaginative literature, it may introduce true historical details, it is not real history. Its purpose is to interest, divert, stimulate and instruct.

4 types of prose Prose includes fictional and non-fictional writing, they are as follows: a. fictional prose: prose fiction is a prose that tells a story Ex. Novels Short stories Flash fiction Fictional prose contains the five features of fiction: mood, point of view, character, setting and plot.

b. nonfictional prose It is a prose that tells story or otherwise communicates factual information. Examples: Guidebooks, memoirs, analytical essays, editorials, news stories and textbooks. The language use in nonfictional prose can vary widely, from the formal language of academic papers to the more subjective writing found in opinion pieces These pieces of writing do not fictional stories.

c. Heroic prose is a work of writing that is meant to be recited and passed on through oral or written tradition. Examples: Legends, mythology, fables, and These stories are passed on from one generation to generation through oral tradition. Ex. Biag ni Lam-ang Ang Langgam at Ang Tipaklong .

d. prose poetry it's poetry written without line breaks. Many prose poems look like short paragraphs, so some writers have suggested that prose poetry is essentially the same form as flash fiction

2. Poetry- is more economical than prose fiction in the use of words, and relies heavily imagery, figurative language (colorful writing) and sound . ELEMENTS OF POETRY 1. Speaker - is the person addressing the reader. The speaker is the poet, it reveals the identity the identity of the speaker in various ways 2. Content- subject of the poem. It answers “what” is the poem all about 3. Theme – the main idea that the poet is trying to communicate, maybe stated or implied. 4. Shape and form - the shape and forms of poems can vary- Structured form-predictable patterns of rhyme, rhythm, length and stanza construction.

5. Mode or tone – it is the feeling that the poet creates and that the reader senses through the poet’s choice of words, rhythm, rhyme, style and structure. 6. Diction - the poets choice of words. 7. Imagery - refers to the “pictures” which we perceive with our mind’s eyes, ear, nose, tongue and through which we experience the “duplicate world” created by poetic language. 8. Figurative language - it is the art of saying something meaning another.

3. DRAMA-it is a literature designed to be performed by actors. Different types of drama in Literature a. Comed y-Comedies are usually humorous plays. But being funny isn’t the only way to define a comedy! The elements of a comedy include: Lighthearted tone Clever wordplay or turns of phrase Serious topics addressed in a humorous way Comical misunderstandings Happy ending Silly, offbeat characters Often ends with a wedding, especially in romantic comedies

b. farce is a type of broad comedy. It depends less on a narrative storyline and more on physical humor, sight gags, silly jokes. Here are the parts of a farcical comedy: c. Operas are dramas in which the characters sing each line rather than speaking. The entire production is set to a musical score. d. Melodrama - When you hear drama, you probably think of melodrama. Melodramas tell a serious story in serious ways. e. Musical Drama -It’s tempting to put opera and musical drama into the same category. f. Tragedy -Just from the word tragedy, you can assume that the ending will be sad. But there is more to a tragedy than a play with no happy ending. g. Tragicomed y-When you combine the elements of a comedy and a tragedy, you get a tragicomedy! Tragicomedies are more complex than a drama with a few jokes, or a comedy with a serious scene.

4. Non-fiction prose- truth in reporting and logic in reasoning. Any literary work that is based mainly on fact, even though it may contain fictional elements. nonfictional prose literature is an immensely challenging task. Examples : essay and biography.
