What is a Teacher? A Teacher or school teacher is a person who provides education for pupils (children) and students (adults).

What is a Teacher? n., one that teaches; especially: one whose occupation is to instruct.

What is a Teacher? R.A. 7836 Teacher refers to all persons engaged in teaching at the elementary and secondary levels, whether on full-time or part-time basis, including industrial arts or vocational teachers and all other persons performing supervisory and/or administrative functions in all schools in the aforesaid levels and qualified to practice teaching.

What is R.A. 7836? Philippine Teachers Professionalization Act of 1994. An act to strengthen the Regulation and supervision of the practice of teaching in the Philippines and prescribing a licensure examination for teachers and for other purposes.

What is Teaching? Teaching refers to the profession concerned with classroom instruction at the elementary and secondary levels in accordance with the curriculum prescribed by the DepEd in private and public schools.

Becoming a Teacher: Qualification requirements: Article III, Section 15 of RA 7836

Becoming a Teacher: 1. A citizen of the Philippines or an alien whose country has reciprocity with the Philippines in the practice of the teaching profession.

Becoming a Teacher: 2. At least 18 years of age.

Becoming a Teacher: 3. In good health and of good reputation with high moral values.

Becoming a Teacher: 4. Has not been convicted by final judgment by a court for an offense involving moral turpitude.

Becoming a Teacher: 5. A graduate of a school, college or university recognized by the government and possesses the minimum educational qualifications, as follows:

Becoming a Teacher: 5.1. For preschool teachers, A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.

Becoming a Teacher: 5.2. For primary/elementary teachers, A bachelor’s degree in early elementary education (BEED).

Becoming a Teacher: 5.3. For secondary/high school teachers, A bachelor’s degree in education with a major or minor; A bachelor’s degree in arts and sciences with at least 18 units in professional education.

Becoming a Teacher: 5.4. For tertiary/college teachers, A bachelor’s degree in the field of specification with at least 18 units of professional education.

Aspects of a Teacher’s Enthusiasm Enthusiasm towards teaching. Enthusiasm towards students. Enthusiasm towards the subject.

Enthusiasm towards Teaching A teacher must enjoy teaching. If they do not enjoy what they are doing, the students will be able to tell.

Enthusiasm towards Students Teachers must also enjoy being around the learners. A teacher who cares for their students is going to help that individual succeed in their life in the future.

Enthusiasm towards the Subject A teacher needs to enjoy the subject matter they are teaching. An enthusiastic teacher has the ability to be very influential in the young students life.
