THE TEACHING PROFESSION
The death of former Senator Benigno S. Aquino on
august 21, 1983 paved the way for the installation of
Cory C. Aquino as president of the Philippines after the

Under the term of President Fidel V. Ramos a number of bills was
signed into law on August 25 1994 to improve the quality of philippine
education. In one of his speeches he emphasized that he should be an
effort to increase the filipinos intellectual capacity and moral strength.
1. The science and technology scholarship law which will finance annually the
education of 3,500 poor talented and deserving students to be part of a pool of
the countries
2. The law on dual touch training which institutionalizes an innovation in technical
vocational training through a combination of in school and in plant training.
3. The law that abolishes the National College Entrance Examination (NCEE).
4. The Tesda law which establishes the technical education
and skills development authority and;
5. The law establishing the commission on higher education
(CHED)
In the report of commission on education (EDCOM) it
emphasized that the aim of education was to make it
as a tool for attaining the goals of social justice, unity,
freedom and prosperity.
Likewise and come report reiterated that the
education should refocus to attain the following:
1. Universal basic education which will make every citizen
functionally literate enumerate;
2. Formation of those skill and knowledge necessary to make
the individual a productive member of society;
3. Development of high level professionals who will search after
new knowledge instruct the young and provide leadership in the
various fields of disciplines required by a dynamic economy.

education's " 10- Point Basic Education Agenda
1. 12-YEARS BASIC EDUCATION (K+12)
Education was expanded from a 10 year cycle to a
globally comparable 12 years through the enactment of
ra 10533 for k to 12. It is implemented in all schools
nationwide.
2. UNIVERSAL KINDERGARTEN
kindergarten is prescribed to all schools as an
introduction to formal schooling of the school children.
it was implemented through ra 10157 for universal
kindergarten.
3. MADARIS EDUCATION (MADRASAH) AS A SUB SYSTEM WITHIN
THE EDUCATION SYSTEM.
To give proper respect to muslim culture madaris education with
subjects in arabic language and islamic values education was
mandated to be integrated in the public school curriculum as
additional subjects.
4. TECH-VOC Education as an alternative stream in SHS.
In k to 12 program TECH VOC is a track offered in senior high
school today as mentioned in 10 points agenda President Aquino,
said that TECH-VOC will be introduced in high school to be better
link schooling to local industry needs and employment
5. "Every child a reader" by Grade 1"
President Aquino included in his 10 point agenda that every child
must be a reader by grade one. To support his goal department
order number 12 s 2015 was issued which laid the guidelines on
the early language literacy and numeracy program.
6. Science and math proficiency.
it was president aquino's plan to rebuild science and math
instruct structure in schools so that the country can produce
more scientist engineers technicians technologist and
teachers who can be more globally compatible in industry
and manufacturing.
7. Expand assistance to private schools
government assistance was expanded to private education
with the idea that a strong private school system will
strengthen public schools. This action aims to reduce
overcrowding of the students in the public school.
8. Nationalized Medium of Instruction
Former President Aquino wanted the philippines to become a
trilingual nation learn English and connect to the world. Learn
filipino well and connect to our country. He said: "Retain your
dialect and connect with your heritage"
9. Provision of quality textbooks
The President had observed that some textbook provide wrong
information and misspelled words. The National Book Review
Board was created to see to it that all books have three criteria:
quality, better quality, and more quality.
10. Covenant with the local governments to build more schools.
Schools are constructed in areas where there are no public or
private schools to address the shortest in classrooms. Building
more classroom would reduce class size which would redound
to better learning. Classroom construction would be carried out
in partnership with the Local School board.
THE NEW GOVERNMENT (2016 PRESENT)
President rodrigo roa duterte has also given his full support
for quality basic education he expressed his desire for quality
of and assess to education for filipino learners during his
second state of nation address.
Asper report in the said sona there was an increase in
enrollment of alternative learning system as from 586,693 to
691,461 leaners which indicated the expanded and intensified
implementation of the intended education for adult and out of
school youth.
THE NEW GOVERNMENT (2016 PRESENT)
President duterte has signed a law making tertiary
education free in all state universities in the Philippines
despite of the budgetary challenges that it may cause
to the country. However President Duterte remain
positive and believe of the long term benefits. That the
bill would spare all student at government run
colleges and universities from paying tuition and other
fees. Under Mr. duterte's proposed budget for 2018 this
institution have a total allocation of 64.6 billion pesos
