The Yearbook of the Sri Lankan Association at Macquarie 2023-2024

This is the yearbook of the Sri Lankan Association at Macquarie for the years 2023/2024. This yearbook reflects our hard work of the team of Sri Lankans under the Presidency of Rashen Suwandaratna.

The theme and end goal for this year was 'Renewal'. The renewal of the Sri Lankan spirit, the renewal of fraternity, and most importantly, the renewal of the Sri Lankan Association at Macquarie. We were triumphant in achieving this goal.

kicked off w ith our vibrant Welcome Night, setting t e tone for a year packed wit unforgettable event s.From the
colorful A
vurudu c elebrations and the SCF Awrudu St all to the musical spectacle of Winter Salle, featuring a live band,
and the im
pactful Impact event, wflere we ca me together to support rur al schools in Sri Lanka w ith their educational
needs, we've shared moments of
unity and joy that t ruly reflect the spirit of our community.
This year, Avurudu and Night in Lanka were p
artic�arly special as we c o laborated with Sr i Lankan student unions from
U
NSW, USYD, UTS, and WSU. Working with all t hese universities was an amazing e)(llerience, and together we c reated
c
ultural events that were a t remendous s uccess. One of our proudest ach ievements was organizing the first-ever cr uise
p
arty hosted by Sri Lankan student s ocieties, held o n the iconic Sydney H arbour during Night in Lanka 2024.
We
also hosted cul tural celebrations for both Easter and V esak, engaging students from all backgrounds in f un and
meaningful a
ctivities !fiat p romoted our heritage and commu nity sp'rit, In addition, we explored the beauty around us
