KS2&3 ORIENTATION 4 ENGLISH English development is the essential basis for all learning. As part of our overall Cambridge curriculum, the school encompasses the very best aspects of teaching and learning, and of promoting good practice in reading, writing (including spelling, punctuation, grammar and handwriting) and communication and oracy . The Cambridge curriculum currently meets the requirements, and is fully integrated across the curriculum in order to equip students with a strong command of the written and spoken word, and to develop their love of literature Listening and Speaking .

5 SCIENCE W e take a skills based approach to our Science learning, guided by the Cambridge Curriculum. In Key Stage 1 there is keen focus on developing scientific understanding through : Building scientific vocabulary performing simple scientific tests using scientific equipment and inquiry making observations gathering data and using data to answer questions. This may be achieved through exploring scientific topics such as plants and animals, habitats and humans, looking at seasonal changes, and describing and using different materials.

6 MATHEMATICS There is a big focus on developing basic number skills. That means securing a good understanding of mathematical concepts. Practicing these skills frequently will help children’s mathematical thinking throughout school. Topics covered Numbers and number systems Mental strategies Geometry Measure Time Statistics – handling data Problem solving Mathematics is of central importance to a modern society and as the most widely used subject in the world. It is our aim that students who leave Key Stage 1 reach a high level of attainment in maths that enables to advance easily to the KS2 curriculum. We also aim to promote a healthy, enthusiastic attitude towards maths that will stay with them, throughout their studies and beyond.

7 OTHER SUBJECTS We are fully aware of the need to provide our pupils with a balanced education that reflects their experiences and their world makes the most of our position as a British curriculum school in Kenya, teaching international students. In year 2 Cambridge has a carefully designed curriculum to ensure that they learn about global, localities and the wider world. As well as knowledge that develops a wide variety of skills in the subjects of art and design, design and technology, geography, History, Digital Literacy and Music, well as cultivating greater individual understanding through our Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) programme .

9 Extra Curricular Activities Extra-curricular Activities are defined as the activities that enable to supplement and complement the curriculum. These are a very important part and parcel of educational as they help to develop the students' personality as well as to strengthen classroom learning.

Provide an extra bag for sports kits. It should also be well labelled for easier identification in case of loss. Girl’s hairstyle if braided should be held back or sideways to avoid covering their face which distracts them while writing. Boy’s hair should be neatly styled .
