Former Associate Dean of Students at Bard College

Timand Bates is a distinguished educator and leader with over two
decades of experience. He holds an M.A. in Teaching of English from
Teachers College, Columbia University, and a B.A. in Languages and
Literature from Bard College.

As Program Manager at the Open Society University Network, Timand
Bates managed an $850k grant, dramatically increasing student
enrollment and faculty participation in online courses.

Timand Bates’s tenure at Bard College includes roles as Associate Dean of
Students, where he led diversity and inclusion initiatives and supported
student success. Bates’s early career includes directing literacy programs
at Reading Revolution and the Oakland Reading Center.

Timand Bates has also taught at various institutions, including Bard
College’s MAT program, the Bard Prison Initiative, and the American
University of Central Asia.
