Todd Richter’s $5 Million Gift Elevates
Finance Education at Indiana University
A Lasting Connection to Indiana University
Todd B. Richter’s story with Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business began in 1981,
when he graduated with his MBA. That experience set the stage for a career that would
establish him as one of Wall Street’s most respected healthcare finance analysts. Today, his
deep loyalty to Indiana University is embodied in a $5 million endowment that will enrich the
school for generations.
The Todd Richter Fund: A Multifaceted Support System
Through his estate commitment, Richter established the Todd Richter Fund, designed to
reinforce four key areas:
Graduate Finance Department initiatives
The Dean’s Office at Kelley
Graduate fellowships for students
Two professorships in securities analysis
By distributing resources across these academic and administrative areas, the fund ensures a
balanced impact on both students and faculty, strengthening the school’s ability to prepare the
next generation of finance leaders.
A Distinguished Wall Street Career
Richter’s decision to give back is rooted in a professional journey spanning more than three
decades. He spent 18 years at Morgan Stanley, where he led healthcare equity research,
before joining Bank of America in 1999 as managing director of its global healthcare
investment banking group. His expertise has earned him recognition as one of the premier
analysts on Wall Street, with honors including 17 “All-American Analyst” awards and
repeated acknowledgment as a Wall Street Journal “All-Star Analyst.”
Impact Beyond Education
While his Indiana University endowment stands out, Richter’s philanthropy extends further.
He pledged $5 million to William & Mary’s golf program, supporting his undergraduate
alma mater and ensuring its long-term success. His contributions also reach into community
causes, such as animal welfare through the Bideawee Todd Richter Foster Program, which
promotes fostering and adoption of rescue animals.
A Legacy of Leadership and Service
Through his philanthropy, Todd Richter demonstrates that true success is measured not only
in professional achievements but also in the ability to uplift institutions and communities. His
$5 million fund is more than a financial contribution—it is a testament to his commitment to
education, leadership, and creating opportunities for the next generation.
