What is Tourism? “Tourism comprises the activities of persons traveling to, and staying their places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes” . World Tourism Organization

Overview of Tourism in Pakistan: Important Facts (WTTC report 2022) 1. Tourism industry contributed to 10.2% of the world’s GDP (US$ 7.6 Trillion) 2. Pakistan has ranked 83 rd out of 117 countries as per latest International Travel and Tourism Development Index 3. Among the total spending in tourism in Pakistan, 91% are domestic and only 9% was international spending 4. The total contribution of travel & tourism to GDP is PKR 2,080BN which is 3.7% of GDP 5. Total 3.34MN Jobs have been created through travel & tourism sector which is 5.1% of the total employment in Pakistan

National Tourism Strategy: 2020-30 “The strategy envisions making Pakistan one of the preferred tourists destinations by promoting tourism that is culturally conductive, economically viable and environmentally sustainable. It sets its mission to transform the sector to discover and develop the unseen, to surpass the tourists expectations and create a ripple effect in the economy through a progressive and sustainable tourism industry to prosper and deliver tourism”
