C.V is abbreviation of a Latin word Curriculum Vitae , which mean “Course of Life” in English. A C.V is a one to two page summary of skills, accomplishments, education and experience written to capture the attention of the reader . WHAT IS C.V
Types of C.V Chronological C.V A chronological C.V enumerates a candidate’s job experiences in reverse chronological order. The chronological C.V format is by far the most common C.V layout in use. In using this format, the main body of the document becomes the Professional Experience section, starting from the most recent experience going chronologically backwards through a succession of previous experience. The chronological resume works to build credibility through experience gained, while illustrating career growth over time . (Better for professional and experienced)
Types of C.V Functional C.V A functional C.V lists work experience and skills sorted by skill area or job function. The functional C.V is used to assert a focus to skills that are specific to the type of position being sought. This format directly emphasizes specific professional capabilities and utilizes experience summaries as its primary means of communicating professional competency. In contrast, the chronological C.V format will briefly highlight these competencies prior to presenting a comprehensive timeline of career growth via reverse-chronological listing with most recent experience listed first. The functional C.V works well for those making a career change, having a varied work history and with little work experience. A functional C.V is also preferred for applications to jobs that require a very specific skill set or clearly defined personality traits. (Better for fresher.)
Types of C.V Combination/Hybrid C.V The combination C.V balances the functional and chronological approaches . This allows you to draw attention to the things you want a recruiter to notice and helps you draw attention away from the things you don't want to highlight without attempting to hide them . Just like a functional C.V , you highlight your notable and important skills at the top of a hybrid C.V . A combination C.V highlights your skills over your work history . Hybrid C.V are a great compromise for people with career gaps and career changers. However, they may not be the best choice for people with a traditional work history.
