Purpose of templates Creating common templates allows for consistency of content across courses Templates give faculty a common structure for elements to include in their course

Getting Started Create or use HTML templates with CSS Download files Daylight HTML template files at https:// community.brightspace.com/s/article/Daylight-HTML-Template?t=1521725346640 Some setup features require an administrator role to setup

Setup in D2L before you can share html files in courses The following items require administrator role to setup Placing template files in Shared Files Enable HTML Templates Set Template Path for Shared Files

Placing template files in Shared Files In Shared Files, create a main folder ( Content_Templates ) and a folder to place your html templates ( College_templates ) Don’t create the assets folder, instead upload a zip file and unzip into the main folder i.e. we unzipped the assets files into Content_Templates

Placing template files in Shared Files Once you have the folder(s) created you can upload the files into the folders.

Enable HTML Templates To allow faculty to use HTML templates in their courses, the EnableHTMLTemplates needs to be set to On for your organization, department or courses d2l.Tools.Content.EnableHTMLTemplates

Set Template Path for Shared Files Set the directory path for shared files folder d2l.Tools.Content.TemplatePath

Using the HTML templates in courses Once the template is used and modified, it will become a file located in the course. The file name will be the title that is entered when adding to content . Note: We use the Lessons Content Experience

Using the HTML templates in courses Go to the content area and click the Add button Select HTML Document on the “What would you like to add?” screen

Using the HTML templates in courses Select the dropdown for Templates and select the template desired Modify the template and add a title and then Save

Example Page Example of CSS coding can be seen in the titles, fonts, numbering etc. Faculty can edit the file with their own content
