land acknowledgement
The County of Los Angeles recognizes that we
occupy land originally and still inhabited and
cared for by the Tongva, Tataviam, Serrano,
Kizh, and Chumash Peoples.
We honor and pay respect to their elders and
descendants —past, present, and emerging —
as they continue their stewardship of these
lands and waters.

Angeles County, please visit the Los Angeles
City/County Native American Indian
Commission website atlanaic.lacounty.gov.

Earth Day 2024
Since the very first Earth Day in 1970, millions of
people from more than 190 countries worldwide
have come together every April 22nd to stand up
for the planet and champion a greener, more
equitable future for us all.
Now in its 54th year, Earth Day serves as a
poignant reminder of our collective responsibility
to safeguard the environment and our own future.
The theme of Earth Day 2024 is “Planet vs.
Plastics.”

MH Across Cultures
Across different cultures and languages, people
talk about and explore mental health in
multiple ways.
In just a few words, please share:
How have you experienced the concept of
"mental health" within your own cultural
communities?

A judgment or stereotype that is:
●Always negative
●Always untrue
●Can be internalized
What is stigma?

How did you feel?
●What you waste you must consume
●This was too much for me
●I hear my family say things like, “I’m not
going to do it if they’re not going to do it”–
they think it’s not worth it to recycle
because they can’t make a difference on
their own
●It helps to focus on the present & things
that make me feel better

●Sad that it focused on younger people
who might not have what they need
because of climate change
●Hard for marginalized communities in the
US to get needs met –even harder for
globally marginalized communities
●Makes me feel more connected to people
–my roots aren’t just here, they’re around
the world

Let’s Go Deeper..

SHARE WITH US:
Where do you find hope for
climate change?
●Talking to other people who are doing this
work, seeing that no matter what the
troubles are, we can still share joy
●Supporting each other in making small
positive changes
