The Fundamental Values of Academic Integrity
QAA Academic Integrity Charter
What does academic integrity mean for you and your discipline
and why is it important?
Here are some questions to consider that might help shape your thinking (you don't need to address
all of these):
•What did you think about academic integrity before you reviewed these materials? Has your view
changed? Are there any new aspects of academic integrity that you haven't thought of before?
•What challenges to academic integrity exist in your discipline?
•What are the consequences of academic integrity breaches in your discipline?
•Do you think academic integrity is important? If so, why? If not, why not?
•Do you plan to change any of your practice surrounding academic integrity? Do you want to
change the practice of your colleagues?
•Is academic integrity taken seriously in your discipline? This could include how you approach it,
how your peers approach it, how the staff who support you approach it, or even how you see this
happening in employment and a professional context
•Can you point to any specific examples where you saw academic integrity being promoted or
breached? What happened and how did that make you feel?
