John Steinbeck usually uses California and the Salinas valley as his setting and is
usually placed in the 30s when the great depression occurred. The Grapes of Wrath
is about a family living in Oklahoma and they are farmers during the period called
the dustbowl in which culture was rough because there were droughts and
conditions were not suitable for farming. This family, because they are not doing
too well, decide to move to California to find jobs and dignity. The author writes
about the struggle of a family during and Great Depression and also the struggle of
each individual as their lives are being torn apart. He not only shows how they go
through these hardships, but also how they will overcome them. In John Steinbeck s

Introduction The administration of criminal justice and the operation of criminal
process play an important role in our ever changing society. The current structure
of the New South Wales criminal justice system, as described by leading critic
Doreen McBarnet as the two tiers of justice , has attracted many critiques namely
the ideology of triviality, summary offence punishment and other legal notions such
as technocratic justice. I have applied the above concepts during the course of my
observation to Local, District and Supreme Courts of New South Wales in April
2016. The following report will assess the validity of the above concepts at a
practical level in light with my observation and research, drawing intrinsic links
between two tiers of justice and technocratic justice, and concluding with the two

Note the role of the observer in this definition and the reliance upon its ability to
process and interpret information. Because of this dependence on a capacity of
comprehension by the observer, a complex system can be considered organized or
disorganized. Most people would agree that complex systems usually have many
parts. However, the way those parts interrelate might be difficult to discern. In fact,
there is somewhat of a disconnection between complexity and organization that
centers around the observers understanding of the logical causal framework of the
system. Warren Weaver posited that disorganized or disordered complexity exists
when there are a large number of parts within the system that appeared to interact
randomly. Like a mixed solution of chemicals in a glass beaker or gas molecules
within a closed container. The emergent properties of such a system (color,
temperature, viscosity, etc.) can be understood by solely using probability and

I have decided to use portraiture to create a narrative between the portrait and the
viewer, allowing the viewer to understand the individual that is being depicted
through their physical characteristics and their personality. I see portraiture as a mean
to express the issues concerning stereotypes towards African Americanhair and how
those stereotypes influence the way society to perceive African Americans. My
overall set of works, tell a story that reveals how these viewpoints oppress African
Americans through images of their hair.

historical stereotypes effect the way that American culture represents African

Medea by Euripides is a tragic tale about a woman who is betrayed by her husband,
Jason. Medea was a very diverse character that possesses several characteristics,
which were unlike the women of her time. As a result of these characteristics people
acted differently towards her. Medea, was a revengeful, intelligent and an emotional
person. In the story, Medeauses all these traits to have everything her way. Medea s
husband, Jason, abandoned her because he was very ambitious and wanted to

The Battle Of The Lost Dog
When it comes to selling beer locally Budweiser is the one that reigns over any
local beer. One of the reasons to this success would have to be their distinctive
commercials. A few of these recognizable commercials wouldn t have just been seen
by beer drinkers, but a larger audience, hence why I am writing about it. The first
one that would come to mind would have to be the Lost Dog, which came out in
2015. Another would be the Wassup? commercial which aired in 1999. While both
of the end goals of the commercials is to try and market to a larger audience and
eventually sell beer, the means of which they sell you one the beer through the beer
is quite different. As far as similarities go one of the biggest and most obvious ones
would be that in both commercials in the end both parties in each commercial are
brought together, making it seem as if Budweiser brings people, or friends, together.
In the Lost Dog commercial the puppydog in the commercial is lost and separated
from his Clydesdale friends. Eventually through many different hardships he is
finally reunited with this horse friends. If you look at the Wassup commercial
however it portrays it in a very different way. It shows a couple of friends calling
each other on the phone. At first they are boring, but as soon as they start yelling at
each other over the phone more and more of their friends hop in on the phone call.

Summary: Gas Chromatography Mass spectrometry (GC/MS) was used to identify
the major components of gasoline, a gasoline simulant, and an octane booster. GC
MS is an analytical method that separates mixtures into individual components and
uses mass spectrometry to identify each component by specific properties. (1) The
instrument used for this experiment was a Thermoscientific Trace 1310 GC MS.
After analyzing the mass spectrums for the major peaks the components were

The mass spectrometry identified peak 1 as an aromatic compound, 7,7, dimethyl
1,3,4 cycloheptatriene, and peak 2 as a branched alkane, 2 butyl 1 octanol. Peak 3
was identified to be an aromatic compound, 1,2,4 trimethylbenzene, and peak 4 as a
straight chain alkane, trichloro(docosyl)silane. Two of the components identified in
the gas and gas simulant were also identified in the octane booster and both were
aromatic compounds, which would increase the octane rating. However, the two
different components identified in the octane booster were a branched alkane and a
straight chained alkane. The branched alkane would also help to increase the octane
rating, however, the straight chained alkane, trichloro(docosyl)silane is a low octane
compound which would lower the octane rating of the gasoline. (4) Therefore, the
commercial octane booster analyzed does not contain the proper molecules to
enhance the octane rating of a gasoline, and is just a gimmick.

reader that calculus isn t as evil as everyone makes it seem, and to show its uses in
everyday life. This happens expertly by using relatable topics such as gambling in
Vegas, how to lose weight, and how to survive the zombie apocalypse. Ouellette
makes it a key point that anyone can understand and apply calculus, even those who
dread even hearing the term. In addition, since every chapter has a new topic the

One weakness this book has though is the fact that it sometimes strayed too far from
the main purpose of the book that the reader could become bored before the author
reaches her main point. For example, on many occasions throughout the book
Ouellette dives too deep into the history of the people who came up with theories,
hypotheses, or equations and this distracts from the main purpose of the book, which
is to make calculus more engaging for the readers. Finally, this book was enjoyable
because it allowed for a better understanding of a complicated topic by using a variety
of interesting examples where calculus is important. Also, since the longer chapters
where broken up into smaller sections it was easier to read it faster and making the
book more pleasurable. I would recommend this book highly to other students who
want to go into a career that will deal with a bunch of calculus because it
intelligently shows you the basic concepts, but in an easy to understand way. This
book challenges the reader to take a step back and look at the more interesting side of
calculus to gain a more solid understanding. For the mechanical engineering major,
one must complete Calculus I, II, and III, so having a strong foundation of knowledge
makes these easier in the long run. Also, the test this book puts on its readers is to

advantages. These cases are now commonly referred to as reverse discrimination.
According to Findlaw.com, reverse gender discrimination typically refers to
situations where a member or members of a majority are discriminated against on
the basis of a protected factor, such as race or gender. While the number of reverse
discrimination suits is still quite small when compared to regular discrimination suits,
the gap is closing.
The notion of reverse gender discrimination specifically has also gained popularity as
many majority groups feel as though affirmative action and other anti discrimination
policies negatively affect them because of their gender. Less is known about the
dynamics of reverse gender discrimination in industries and jobs predominantly
dominated by women such as nursing, teaching, etc. It is this small number of reverse
