Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O)

The YES O was established through the Department Order No. 72, s. 2003 signed by DepEd Secretary Edilberto C. De Jesus.

The YES O is a school-based co-curricular organization which served as a significant venue for students’ actions and movements toward safeguarding, promoting, and conserving the environment for future generations.

The YES O is the only recognized co-curricular environment club or organization in the school and consolidates all other environmental and/or ecology clubs or organizations in school with main and primary programs or projects for the environment or ecology in the said organization.

Objectives 1. Be aware and create awareness in others of the State of the Philippine environment and ecology, including prevailing issues and concerns on the environment and ecology. 2. Establish specific and doable programs, projects and activities to address issues and concerns on the environment and ecology. 3. Network with other governments and non-government organizations in other schools within the division and region, with regard to support and assistance to programs, projects and activities of the organization. 4. Encourage community participation and initiative in environmental and ecological movements and actions, and 5. Develop among members and the community proper environmental values, skills and attitudes.

Programs, Projects and Activities 1. Clean-up drive inside and surrounding the school premises including public and common areas in the community 2. Waste management, segregation and recycling program 3. Awareness campaigns to address specific issues such as pollution, sanitation and health 4. Symposia/Trainings 5. Nursery establishment and Tree planting activities 6. Fun run for environment 7. Youth for Environment Summer Cam

Vision We are the pioneering and leading youth organization at the forefront of the science club movement in the school.

Mission We provide opportunities for the youth to serve the country through public understanding of science, technology and the environment. We make science learning fun, enjoyable and memorable.

Objectives To develop a general interest in science To inculcate scientific attitude and provide opportunities for training in scientific method To develop interest in scientific hobbies To develop habits of exploration and creative faculties To encourage individual and group activities To develop in children a sense of healthy competition To make the students and public science minded To stimulate active participation and initiative among students in learning process To keep the students in touch with the recent advances in science To provide challenging opportunities to the gifted

Activities 1. Organizing lectures, debates, seminars, symposia etc. 2. Holding science exhibition and fair 3. Celebrating birth days of eminent scientist 4. Participating in science fairs 5. Conducting visual programmes of s scientific interest 6. Arranging visit to places of scientific interest 7. Preparing of charts, postures, models etc 8.
